The Internet of Things will have a huge impact on our future working and living conditions. Even simple devices will be equipped with sensors and we will be able to control them via Web-based applications. In industry, production processes will get automated and optimised even further with the help of IoT. The emerging, all-encompassing network offers great opportunities for making life better, but it also raises questions ranging from individual privacy to the future of work in Western-style economies. The IoT group contributes to the development of sustainable IoT-technology that can lead us to a desirable future. We address the basic technologies, the issue of business virtualisation and applications in different sectors of the economy.
